Welcome to the University of Kansas CEAE Department

Dear Web site Visitor:

Tom Mulinazzi

I am pleased that you have found our Web pages for the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) Department at the University of Kansas. Whether your goal is to earn a valuable degree as quickly as possible, or to pursue academic studies or research to the greatest of depths, or both, you will find that our department and KU offer the unique combination of attributes that you seek.

We are a people-oriented group of students, staff, and faculty all with the common purpose of pursuing knowledge and enhancing our skills in our chosen fields. This pursuit involves teaching, research, and service: teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, research for finding answers to theoretical and practical problems, and service to others in the department, the School of Engineering, the university, and the community.

Our multifaceted department, in a medium-sized state university, has a long history of attracting quality students, and educating them to be effective engineering and science professionals. Civil engineering has been a fundamental part of KU since its founding, and our valued alumni have become influential members of society. We pride ourselves on our reputation as a friendly, open academic home where students and faculty can jointly pursue their particular interests and find success.

But we are not "all work and no play." As part of the CEAE community you will find many activities outside the classroom where you can get involved, have fun, make friends, and develop your leadership skills. You can learn more about these events, organizations and opportunities on the pages of this site.

It is my hope that you will join our growing family of students and alumni, all known proudly as lifelong "KU Jayhawks."
